Unicode User Guide for Myanmar IT Pro

The founder of Myanmar IT Pro proposed to change Myanmar IT Pro's default font to Unicode in Dec 30, 2010. He said -

"Unicode is not just how Myanmar language should be stored or processed in computer; it is a movement. A movement that we learn to standardize, we learn to collaborate/share, and we learn to unite. So that Myanmar Language can join the Cyber World fully and thrive. Our own contents will become valuable asset for our next generations."

With the widespread support of core members and community, the maintenance team start migrated Myanmar IT Pro to Unicode in Dec 31, 2010. The technical side of migration process completed in Jan 2, 2011. Hence, Myanmar IT Pro members should update their setting to view correctly the contents of Myanmar IT Pro.

This is a user guide to configure your computer to collaborate with other professionals on Myanmar IT Pro. This guide is focusing on Windows users.

Step 1

Download Myanmar3 Unicode Font and install it. For Mac user, it's suggestible to use Masterpiece Unisans font.

Step 2

Check your browser's font setting. To check font setting in Mozilla Firefox,

Goto Tool -> Options
Goto Content Tab
Click Advanced...

You should get the dialogue box like this. Make sure that "Allow Pages to choose their own fonts" Check Box has checked.

Current setup of Myanmar IT Pro work correctly on most of modern web browsers. But, we would like to suggest you to use Mozilla Firefox to get better browsing experiences.

If you can't read following Unicode text, please do above steps 1 and 2 first before continue to next steps.

Step 3

အဆင့် (၁) နဲ့ (၂) ကို ဆောင်ရွက်ခဲ့ပြီးပြီဆိုရင် မြန်မာအိုင်တီပရိုက Content တွေကို ဖတ်လို့ရပြီဖြစ်ပါတယ်။ ဒါပေမယ့် Post တွေ Reply တွေတော့ တင်လို့ရဦးမှာမဟုတ်ပါဘူး။ Post တွေ Reply တွေမှာ ယူနီကုဒ် နဲ့ ထည့်သွင်းထားတဲ့ Content တွေကိုသာ လက်ခံတော့မှာဖြစ်လို့ ဆက်လက်ဖော်ပြထားတဲ့ နည်းလမ်းတွေထဲက တစ်ခုခုကို ဆောင်ရွက်ဖို့ လိုအပ်ပါတယ်။

Option A

ယူနီကုဒ် Keyboard တစ်ခု ထည့်သွင်းဖို့လိုအပ်ပါတယ်။ ရွေးချယ်စရာ သုံးလေးမျိုးရှိတဲ့အထဲက အသုံးပြုဖို့ အကြံပေးလိုတာကတော့ အက္ခရာ Keyboard ဖြစ်ပါတယ်။ အက္ခရာ Keyboard ကို Download လုပ်ယူပါ။ Install လုပ်ရမယ့် လုပ်ဆောင့်ချက်အဆင့်ဆင့်ကို ဒီနေရာမှာ ဖော်ပြထားပါတယ်။

လက်ကွက်ကတော့ ဇော်ဂျီနဲ့ တူတော့မှာမဟုတ်ပါဘူး။ အက္ခရာ Keyboard ရဲ့ လက်ကွက်ကို ဒီနေရာမှာ ကြည့်လို့ရပါတယ်။

အက္ခရာ Keyboard ကို Install လုပ်ဖို့ ရွေးချယ်ခဲ့မယ်ဆိုရင်တော့ မြန်မာအိုင်တီပရိုမှာ Post တွေ Reply တွေတင်ဖို့ အသင့်ဖြစ်ပြီဖြစ်ပါတယ်။ နောက်အဆင့်တွေ ဆက်လုပ်ဖို့ မလိုတော့ပါဘူး။

Option B

အက္ခရာ Keyboard ရဲ့ လက်ကွက်က လက်ရှိအသုံးပြုနေတဲ့ ဇော်ဂျီလက်ကွက်နဲ့ မတူလို့ မသုံးတက်ဖူး၊ မသုံးချင်ဘူးဆိုရင်တော့ ဇော်ဂျီလက်ကွက်နဲ့ပဲ ရိုက်လို့ရတဲ့ ယူနီကုဒ် Keybaord တစ်ခုရှိပါတယ်။

အဲ့ဒီ Keyboard ကို ကိုရာဗီ က ဖန်တီးထားတာဖြစ်ပြီး ဒီနေရာမှာ Download လုပ်ယူနိုင်ပါတယ်။ Install လုပ်ရမယ့်အဆင့်တွေနဲ့ အသုံးပြုပုံကိုတော့ myanmarlanguage.org မှာ ကိုမောင်မောင်ဆန်းရေးထားတဲ့ လမ်းညွှန် မှာ ကြည့်နိုင်ပါတယ်။

Option C

နောက်ထပ်အဆင်ပြေနိုင်မယ့် ကီးဘုတ်တစ်ခုကတော့ KeyMagic ပါ။ ဒီကီးဘုတ်ကတော့ Myanmar3 ရော Zawgyi ပါ ကီးဘုတ်တစ်ခုတည်းနဲ့ တွဲ့သုံးလို့ရနိုင်မယ့် Keyboard ဖြစ်ပါတယ်။ လက်ရှိမှာ တစ်ချို့ Site တွေက ယူနီကုဒ်ဖြစ်နေပြီး တစ်ချို့ Site တွေက ဇော်ဂျီဖြစ်နေပါသေးတယ်။ ဒါကြောင့် ကီးဘုတ်လည်း နှစ်မျိုးထည့်ထားဖို့ လိုအပ်နေနိုင်ပါတယ်။ အဲ့ဒီလို နှစ်မျိုးထည့်မယ့်အစား KeyMagic တစ်ခုတည်းထည့်ထားယုံနဲ့ အဆင်ပြေနိုင်ပါတယ်။

အသေးစိတ်ကို KeyMagic ရဲ့ Project Homepage မှာ ကြည့်နိုင်ပြီး၊ Keybard Installer ကိုတော့ ဒီမှာ Download လုပ်ယူလို့ရပါတယ်။

Option D

လက်ရှိသုံးနေတဲ့ ဇော်ဂျီ Keyboard ကိုပဲ ဆက်လက်အသုံးပြုနိုင်မယ့် နည်းလမ်းတစ်ခုလည်း ပေးထားပါတယ်။

မြန်မာအိုင်တီပရိုရဲ့ Typing Area မှာ ဇော်ဂျီ Keyboard ကို အသုံးပြုပြီး စာတွေရိုက်လို့ရပါတယ်။ ပြီးရင် Convert လုပ်လိုက်မယ်ဆိုရင် မြန်မာအိုင်တီပရိုမှာ အသုံးပြုနိုင်တဲ့ ယူနီကုဒ် Output ကိုရမှာဖြစ်ပါတယ်။ မိမိအသုံးပြုလိုတဲ့နေရာမှာ ကူးယူအသုံးပြုလိုက်ယုံပါပဲ။

ဒီနည်းလမ်းကို သိပ်အားမပေးချင်ပါဘူး။ ဇန်နဝါရီ (၁) ရက်နေ့ကစပြီး မြန်မာစာနဲ့ဖော်ပြထားတဲ့ Web Site တွေ၊ Blog တွေ အတော်များများမှာ ယူနီကုဒ်ကို စတင်အသုံးပြုနေပြီဖြစ်ပါတယ်။ ဆက်လက်ပြီးတော့ အခြား Web Site တွေ၊ Blog တွေလည်း ပြောင်လဲအသုံးပြုဖို့ ပြင်ဆင်နေကြပြီဖြစ်ပါတယ်။ ဒီလို ယူနီကုဒ်အသုံးပြုတဲ့ Web Site တွေ များလာနေတဲ့အတွက် အခုကတည်းက ယူနီကုဒ် Keyboard တစ်ခုခုကို Install လုပ်ပြီး အလေ့အကျင့်ဖြစ်အောင် စတင်အသုံးပြုထားသင့်တယ်လို့ယူဆပါတယ်။

ဒါပေမယ့် အကြောင်းအမျိုးမျိုးနဲ့ ယူနီကုဒ် Keyboard ကို Install မလုပ်နိုင်တဲ့အခါ၊ ဒီနည်းနဲ့ မြန်မာအိုင်တီပရိုမှာ Post တွေ Reply တွေ တင်နေလို့ရပါတယ်။

အခြားသော ယူနီကုဒ်နဲ့ ပက်သက်တဲ့ အခက်အခဲတွေ အကြံပြုချက်တွေကို Unicode Migration Q&A မှာ ဆွေးနွေးလို့ရပါတယ်။

Comment by David Mungra on November 24, 2011 at 11:31am: တစ်ခုလောက်မေးချင်းပါတယ်။ Window xp sp2 မှာ NHM keyboard ကိုသုံးတာ NHM Writer ကို run လိုက်တာနဲ့ indean language setting ကို effect ဖြစ်ဖို့ အတွက် reset ချခိုင်းတယ် ချပီး ပြန်တက်ရင် ခေါင်းလောင်းလေးက မ ပေါ်လာဘူး ။ ပြန် run တော့လဲ reset ပြန်ချခိုင်တယ်။ အဲ့လိုလုပ်တာ အ ကြိမ်ကြိမ်ပဲဗျ။

သုံးလို့မရဘူးဖြစ်နေတယ်။ အခုတော့ keymegic ကို သုံးထားတယ် ဒါပေမဲ့ NHM ကိုသုံးချင်တယ်။ ဘာဖြစ်တာလဲ ပြေားပေးပါ ကိုအိမောင်နဲ့ admin အဖွဲ့ များ။

Comment by aungmoetun on July 20, 2011 at 1:46pm: unicode font တွေက ပုံသဏ္ဍန်တွေအများကြီးရှိပါသလား။ လှပတဲ့စာလုံးပုံသဏ္ဍန်ကောရှိပါသလား။ ရှိလျှင် ဘယ်မှာ ဒေါင်းလို့ရပါသလဲ။ ကျေးဇူးတင်ပါတယ်။ Indesign နဲ့ကောတွဲသုံးလို့ရပါသလားခင်ဗျာ။ ကျေးဇူးပြုပြီး ဖြေပေးပါအုံး။

Thank you for explaining about Unicode. I am new to Unicode. I followed the key board layout for unicode provided in here http://www.thanlwinsoft.org/ThanLwinSoft/MyanmarUnicode/InputMethod... and figured out that it uses "Shift+N" for ဈ. I also found another website http://dhammabank.com/?PID=B&SID=1&CatID=Unicode%205.2%20Sy... which shows unicode layout to use "Shift+K" for ဈ. I have not checked completely yet.

I believe that both will render the same due to different keyboard input software. However, it would be very nice to have standard unicode keyboard layout so as to avoid complexity and confusing.
