The only time that redistribution is automatic in IP routing protocols is between IGRP and EIGRP process running on the same routers and using the same AS number. (Manipulating Routing Updates)

FYI bros, RIP and IGRP are distance vector routing protocols. IGRP is Cisco proprietary protocol and EIGRP has completely replaced IGRP. From Cisco IOS 12.3 and above, IGRP is completely unsupported.
